Colony modular shelving is designed to expand or contract to fit any width of space exactly. From an alcove to lining a wall, or a whole room even, Colony can ‘flood’ into any space just like it had been made specially for it.

The Colony system is comprised of storage units of a uniform capacity which slide along one another to achieve the desired fit for the space. Spaces can be created within it to house objects larger than an individual unit can. The units can be built into internal corners and around external ones. The system is free-standing and can be accessed from either side.

The number of units needed to fit a wall space of 5m in length by 2m high can be transported in the boot of a family car. No tools are required for assembly.

The Holy Grail of shelving

I have forgotten how many times I have stood in chimney breast alcoves, tape-measure in hand, thinking that there ought to be a better alternative than getting me round to measure for something as straightforward as shelving… and now there is!

I’ve rarely been asked to make shelves for a client who wouldn’t have preferred to go out and buy them - off the shelf. Ones which didn’t involve cutting or drilling to install, fitted exactly and stored what needs storing. The question is, how long is a length of shelving?

The answer is - any length, as long as it can grow to fill large spaces or shrink to fill small ones... easy.

It’s much simpler to see it working than to explain it.

As with my other products, Colony, has been rigorously tested on the domestic front-line of my family’s home: it has been set up in different rooms in different configurations as our needs for it have altered and it has moved house with us three times. It has fitted perfectly everywhere we have needed it.
